Regular Tickets

Tickets are sold at ticket vending machines found at every Tokyo Metro station.Tickets are available in denominations of 170 yen, 200 yen, 240 yen, 280 yen and 310 yen. Select the fare based on the distance you will travel.

*The price shown includes the train station barrier-free fee (10 yen for adults). The price for children is half that of an adult after adding the train station barrier-free fee.

Refunds

Refunds are only possible with valid tickets that have not yet been used. You will be charged a 170 yen handling fee (220 yen when transferring to/from other companies' trains) to process your refund.

Traveling Further than Your Fare Allows/Transferring Trains
  • If the fare on your ticket is less than that for the distance you traveled, you will be required to pay the difference.
  • Refunds are not given for tickets valued higher than the fare for the distance traveled.
  • Regular Tickets become invalid upon exiting the ticket gate.


When transferring between trains, be sure to use the orange ticket gates and to complete your transfer within 60 minutes. However, there are some stations where you can transfer without going through the ticket gates.

When You’re Lost Your Ticket
  • You will be charged the fare from the station at which you boarded the train. (If you do not know where you boarded, you will be charged the fare from the terminus.)
  • Purchase a replacement ticket at the station you arrived and ask a station attendant for a proof-of-payment receipt (sai-shuuju shomeisho).
  • If your ticket is found, present the ticket along with your proof-of-payment receipt when requesting a refund.
  • You will receive a refund for the price of a new ticket, minus a 170 yen handling fee (220 yen when transferring to/from other companies' trains).
  • The proof-of-payment receipt is valid for one year.

Coupon Tickets

Tokyo Metro has three types of Coupon Tickets to meet passengers' needs. Coupon Tickets can be used at any Tokyo Metro station.Restrictions apply on its usage and on the number of tickets you can obtain.

As of February 28, 2023, Ordinary Coupon Tickets, Off-peak Coupon Tickets and Weekend/Holiday Discount Coupon Tickets are no longer being sold.
Note: Coupon tickets for persons with disabilities and student coupon tickets will remain on sale.

The price for a pack of Coupon Tickets is equivalent to the price of 10 Regular Tickets. For example, a set of Coupon Tickets for the 170 yen section is 1,700 yen.

* Note: Fares for the special section between Ayase and Kita-senju on the Chiyoda Line is 1,400 yen (700 yen for children).

Refunds

When you have not used any of the Coupon Tickets and they are still valid:

You can receive a refund for the cost of the Coupon Tickets, minus a 220 yen handling fee.

When you no longer need your valid Coupon Tickets after you start to use them:

You can receive a refund, minus the Regular Ticket fare for each used ticket and a 220 yen handling fee.

Example: Returning a 1,700 yen pack of Coupon Tickets of which five have been used.

Refund amount = 1,700 yen − (170 yen × 5 + 220 yen) = 630 yen

  • The fare printed on the Coupon Tickets is only valid for travel on the Tokyo Metro subway network. A supplementary fare will be required when transferring between the Tokyo Metro and other companies' trains.
