Tokyo Metro will Start Advisory Business for Operation and Maintenance (O&M) of Ho Chi Minh City Line 1 in Vietnam
Tokyo Metro Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Taito ward, Tokyo; President: Akiyoshi Yamamura; hereinafter referred to as "Tokyo Metro") will begin an O&M(※) advisory business for Urban Railway Line 1, which opened in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam on May 23, 2025.

In Ho Chi Minh City, the largest commercial city in Vietnam, Urban Railway Line 1 (19.7 km) was built through an ODA Loan project by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to alleviate chronic traffic congestion and opened on December 2024. In this business, Tokyo Metro will provide its O&M expertise to Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway No. 1 Company Limited (HURC1), to support stable railway operations after opening.
In December 2017, Tokyo Metro received an order from JICA for "The Project on Strengthening Management Ability of Operation and Maintenance Company for the Opening of Urban Railway Line 1 in Ho Chi Minh City" to support the HURC1 for the preparation of internal regulations and manuals and the acquisition of safety certification.
This advisory business is commissioned by Management Authority for Urban Railways (MAUR) of Ho Chi Minh City to a consulting JV led by Nippon Koei Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Chiyoda ward, Tokyo; President: Haruhiko Kanai; hereinafter referred to as "Nippon Koei"). Tokyo Metro will participate as a partner company of Nippon Koei and will begin works on May 23, 2025.
In this advisory business, Tokyo Metro will utilize its experience of 100 years in urban railway operation, as well as its experience gained from overseas technical consulting in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, which has been carried out until now. Through this business, Tokyo Metro will contribute to the realization of a highly convenient urban railway system in Ho Chi Minh City.
