Creating Social Impact Through Business Activities
We define social impact as the quantified value we provide to society through our businesses and initiatives, which we calculate and utilize.
We are currently calculating our Theme 3 and Theme 4 social impact.
Theme 3 Social Impact
Focusing on the Yurakucho Line extension, we looked at the impact created from the perspectives of well-being and safety.
Theme 4 Social Impact
Focusing on the fact that Tokyo Metro is an environmentally-friendly means of transportation, we calculated the impact from an environmental perspective.
Examples of Initiatives
- Collaborative project with Tokyo Metropolitan Bureau of Transportation: Eco Bonus W (Double) Campaign
Aiming to publicize the superior environmental performance of subways, Metpo and ToKoPo members who rode on Saturdays and Sundays in June 2024 and 2025 (Environment Month) received five times more points than usual, and June 5 (Environment Day) was added to the list of days covered by the all-you-can-ride holiday Metro.
- Environmental lessons at after-school clubs in collaboration with Ezaki Glico Co., Ltd.
In collaboration with Ezaki Glico Co., Ltd., which is popular among elementary school students, we aimed to educate children about the superior environmental performance of Tokyo Metro, encourage them to become long-term fans of Tokyo Metro, and share this information with their guardians after they return home. By doing so, we aim to generate more railroad ridership.
- Take the Metro to Ecoff! Campaign: A collaborative project with the Ueno Matsuzakaya Department Store of Daimaru Matsuzakaya Department Stores Co., Ltd.
In addition to aiming to widely publicize the superior environmental performance of the Metro system on the stamp books distributed to participating customers, we conducted a survey on the number of people who switched to using trains based on the responses to a questionnaire on the stamp books.
- Bunkyo Ward x Tokyo Metro: License Relinquishment Campaign
This initiative aims to both increase the number of Tokyo Metro users and also contribute to preventing traffic accidents caused by elderly drivers, which has become a social issue.
- Environmental event hosted by Bunkyo Ward: Exhibition at the Cool Earth Fair 2025
Posters promoting our sustainability efforts and the superior environmental performance of the Metro system were displayed at the venue to appeal directly to visitors.
