Fare for the Physically-Challenged

This is the information on discount tickets applied to the physically-challenged, where they are available, and how to get on a train, etc.

The discount is applied to the caregiver only when the child or infant disabled does not need a ticket.

  • No discount applies to the Child Commuter Pass. (The discount applies to the Adult Pass for caregivers.)
  • The Student Pass is available for the disabled, but not for caregivers.

Where they are available/how to get on a train

Only when discounted fare is applied for a physically-challenged passenger who gets on a train with a caregiver, the caregiver should make sure to purchase a ticket of the same type, travel zone, and valid period as the physically-challenged passenger's and to get on the same train together.
In addition, the discounted fare is applied to one caregiver per one physically-challenged passenger.

Regular Tickets (Discounted in 10 Yen increments)

Purchase a child regular ticket with a ticket machine, then receive a discount certificate from a gate attendant before boarding. Moreover, we may ask you to present a certificate (physically disability certificate, rehabilitation certificate, Aino-techo, etc.)

Children and passengers who would like to purchase a transfer ticket to other subway line are asked to purchase the ticket at the Station Office. Moreover, we may ask you to present a certificate (physically disability certificate, rehabilitation certificate, Aino-techo, etc.)

Coupon Tickets (Discounted in 10 Yen increments)

Please consult a station attendant.
We ask you to present a certificate (physically disability certificate, rehabilitation certificate, Aino-techo, etc.) before selling the Coupon Tickets.

Passes (Discounted in 10 Yen increments)

Please purchase at Tokyo Metro Pass Offices & Pass Inquiry. Moreover, we may ask you to present a certificate (physically disability certificate, rehabilitation certificate, Aino-techo, etc.) upon your purchase.

IC Card (Discounted in 1 Yen increments)

When a disabled passenger of Type 1 with a caregiver use an IC Card for boarding, a discounted fare (50% discounted) will be applied in 1 Yen increments.
The disabled passenger and the caregiver will use and touch the IC Card over the automatic ticket gate respectively at the gate, but do not touch it but present the certificate (physically disability certificate, rehabilitation certificate, Aino-techo, etc.) to the gate attendant at the destination or junction.

  • We may ask you to present a certificate (physically disability certificate, rehabilitation certificate, Aino-techo, etc.) when we assume it is needed.
